Write for us
Grand Stage Journal welcomes well-shaped pitches about the design of live performance. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to understand the idea and its visual point of view.
What we welcome
We are interested in clear, original writing about scenery, lighting, costume, props and stage space. A useful contribution might explain a design principle, compare approaches, unpack a visual convention or offer readers a fresh way to notice a stage. Keep the focus distinct and suitable for a general audience.
Make the pitch specific
Tell us the proposed subject, the main idea, why it suits Grand Stage Journal and how you would develop it. Include a working title and a short outline. Identify any sources, permissions or image needs that would matter. Avoid pitches that rely on unsupported claims, promotional copy or access you have not secured.
How to send it
Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option for your proposal. Please send a pitch rather than an unsolicited finished manuscript. A submission does not guarantee publication, and we may suggest changes to fit the publication's scope and voice.
Design is a way of directing attention
A stage is never just a backdrop. We look at how its visible choices shape what an audience notices, expects and remembers.
